Gibut

Gibut was a project I worked on as the Lead Developer from 2010 to 2013. The project was a social network experience founded by Jason Spriggs, Abel Garcia, and myself. We unveiled it at SXSW 2012 under the name "gotsi" to an intrigued audience, including Dell.

My role in the project was to oversee the development and implementation of the platform using PHP 5, MySQL, JavaScript, and various APIs. The objective of the project was to create a new social network experience that would stand out from existing platforms like Facebook and Twitter by offering unique features and capabilities.

One of the challenges we faced during the project was creating a platform that could handle a large number of users and visitors while maintaining high performance and stability. To address this challenge, I utilized my expertise in PHP and MySQL to develop efficient and scalable database structures and optimized code to improve the website's overall performance.

While the project did not last long, it was certainly a learning experience for both our team and the people invested in the platform. Although the project is no longer active, I'm proud of the role I played in its development and the experience gained from working on such an ambitious project.
